If you have a reasonably recent Linux distribution then you should use version 7.50. However we are keeping version 7.40 available for use with older distributions.

The current release, for use on recent Linux versions.

System requirements : Linux on x86 with GTK 2.4.0 or later and ALSA 1.0.6 or later.

If you are running 64 bit Linux then you will need to have the "32 bit compatibility layer" installed. Please see the query "Does Transcribe! work on 64 bit operating systems?" for more info.

Sub-notebooks : There are quite a number of "sub notebooks" available for Linux these days, often at amazingly reasonable prices. Many of them are happy to run the Linux version of Transcribe!. Please see the query "Does Transcribe! run on handheld computers?" for more info.

This is a tar/gzip file, 1.6 MB. Unpack it with "tar -xzf xscsetup.tar.gz". It is a binary distribution so there may be other issues with library versions etc. There is more information in the readme you will find in the download.

Version 7.40 system requirements : Linux on x86 with GTK 1.2.7 or later and OSS.

This is a tar/gzip file, 2.6 MB. Unpack it with "tar -xzf xsc740setup.tar.gz". It is a binary distribution so there may be other issues with library versions etc. There is more information in the readme you will find in the download.
